Thunivu Review: Ajith Kumar has been following a strategy of working with the same director consecutively after their first success and that helped the actor to deliver few mass entertainers from the last few years. After director Siva, Ajith Kumar started working with H Vinoth with the movie ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ and with the success of this movie, he offered two more projects with the same director, one among them was ‘Vaalmai’ and other was ‘Thunivu’.
Despite the fact that Ajith Kumar is working with Vinoth for third consecutive time, this movie had more expectations as it competes with Vijay’s Varisu that has released on the same day. Let us get into the detailed review of this movie, to know of Ajith Kumar and H Vinoth duo are once again successful in entertaining the audience with ‘Thunivu’.

We have seen many heist movies earlier from different languages, but it is good to see a big actor like Ajith Kumar accepting such interesting story and genre despite of his stardom & huge fan base who love to watch him in mass masala commercial entertainers. Thunivu definitely had some commercial elements that were added to please Ajith Kumar fans, but doesn’t disappoint till the end.
Movie has very thin story line that is very clear with the trailer, but what makes the movie interesting is the making and action sequences that were very well designed. Protagonist taking people as hostages and then demanding his requirements, because he was affected previously by some situations and so on, all these kind of stories have been presented on screen many times, but Thunivu has some brilliant setup with some twists & turns that will surely engage us in the movie till the end.
Ajith Kumar, who always brings the best out of him, if offered any role with negative shades, once again gave his best in Thunivu. His evil smile and the way he delivers the dialogues will entertain his fans and all the audience in the theatres to the core. Manju Warrier did her part well, though the screen time was limited. Samuthirakani is perfect in the role of a cop and we have seen him deliver in such characters earlier. John Kokken and all other actors did their part well.
Thunivu has some brilliantly choreographed action scenes that will be a treat to watch on screens. Songs that were released by movie team before movie release were not that impressive, but the background score by Ghibran added more thrill to few of the scenes in the movie. Nirav Shah’s cinematography stands as one of the major highlights in the movie. Production values are up to the mark.
Director H Vinoth is an expert in handling movies filled with action scenes. He already proved this with his movie ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’ and ‘Valimai’. Though movie had very thin storyline, he managed to keep the audience engaged till the end with his mark action scenes and making.
Thunivu is definitely a watchable action thriller that has to be experienced in the theatres. Despite few flaws this movie has some well designed action scenes and performances from the lead actors.
