Verdict

If you look at Anurag Kashyap‘s filmography, you’ll see that most of his financially successful films were based on true stories of crimes. However, he has surprisingly shifted his approach to choosing stories, coming up with a variety of genres that are failing to engage theatergoers.

The love drama Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat has a pretty straightforward plot that many young people of the current generation can relate to, but it would also feel routine if the film hadn’t been created with a non-linear screenplay. Anurag Kashyap is a master at creating relatable characters, and the lead characters are written in such a way that they instantly strike up a connection with the audience.

Both the primary performers in the film, Alya F and Karan Mehta, have two distinct personas with distinct personalities in terms of both appearance and performance. Alaya F, who has already demonstrated her acting prowess in her debut film “Jawaani Jaaneman,” provided two distinct characters with a variety of entertainment. Despite giving a respectable performance in his acting debut, Karan Mehta still has to work on his facial expressions. All of the other actors performed their roles to the best of their abilities.

The movie Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat seems good on paper. One of the film’s standout features is the music, which Amit Trivedi composed. His melodies enhance the elegance of this straightforward love story, and the background music fits the scene. One further aspect of the film that stands out is the cinematography by Sylvester Fonseca. From Dalhousie, India, he photographed some lovely landscapes that look lovely on film. Productivity levels are high.

Every film that Anurag Kashyap has made in the previous several years has somehow fallen short of expectations. Given that it completely differs from the director’s previous work, one may have doubts as to whether Anurag Kashyap actually directed this film.

Overall, Anurag Kashyap’s Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat is a compelling love drama that falls short of his goals.
