The Mitchells vs. The Machines (2021)

Directed by Mike Rianda, the story of the movie revolves around the life of an aspiring filmmaker named Katie who is soon leaving for college in California. After her technophobic father Rick gets involved in an argument with his daughter Katie, he decides to take his wife Linda, son Aaron and Katie on a road trip to her college, so that it does not affect their relationship. On the other hand, when AI virtial assistant PAL is replaced by another assistant by the tech entrepreneur Mark Bowman, it orders all the robots to capture all the humans and sent them to space. When PAL sees Rick and his family, he tries to capture them, however, Rick and his family go through several obstacles in order to destroy the PAL and all the other robots. In the end, they are successful in killing the robots and Katie is dropped off to college to start a new life and pursue a career in filmmaking in California.

Pineapple Express (2008)

Directed by David Gordon Green, the story of the movie revolves around the life of a man named Dale, who visits his drug dealer Saul, and they both smoke the “Pineapple Express” that is quite rare to find. One day, when Dale visits Ted Jones, he sees Tedd along with the police officer Carol Brazier shoot an Asian man, after which Dale quickly leaves and explains everything to Saul. However, Ted gets to know that Dale paid a visit to him since he accidentally dropped his rare marijuana at his place. Ted contracts another drug dealer Red and she informs them that these belong to a drug dealer named Saul. Now that Ted knew who Dale and Saul were, they try to escape the city and save their lives. What follows next is a series of chaos that also leads to many characters getting killed and injured amidst all the fleeing. However, the movie ends on a positive note when both Dale and Saul come out alive with few injuries.

The Incredible Jessica James (2017)

Directed by James C. Strouse, the story of the movie revolves around the life of a girl named Jessica, who is an independent woman and works with children as a part of theatre projects. One day, she is set up on a blind date by her best friend Tasha, with a guy names Boone. While Jessica talked about her recent breakup with her ex Damon, Boone was seen talking about his divorce. They both had an amazing time on the date, which lead to spending the night together with each other. Since both Jessica and Boone were obsessed with checking the social media accounts of their exes, they both decide to unfollow them and both of them start to follow each other exes to keep a tab on them. Jessica, who is now madly in love with Boone, finds him in bed together with his ex-wife, which leads to them splitting up. Directed by Boots Riley, the story of the movie revolves around a man named Cassius Green, also known as Cash, who lives with his girlfriend Datroit in his uncle’s Garage. In order to earn some money and to pay for his rent, Cash gets a job as a telemarketer at Regal View, where he struggles in the beginning but after adapting to talk in a white voice, Cash gets comfortable and even gets promoted to Power Caller position. Now that Cash was really good at his job and was promoted to a higher position, he was able to buy a house for himself and could afford other necessary things. However, when Datroit notices a change in the behaviour of Cash, she breaks up with him and moves out of the apartment. Due to his ego, his relationship with all of his friends also becomes complicated and he spends the entire time making things right and learn from his mistake.

She’s Gotta Have it (1986)

Directed by Spike Lee, the story of the movie revolves around the life of a woman named Nola, who is a graphic artist living in Brooklyn. Nola can be seen juggling with three guys, Jamie, Greer and Mars, refusing to commit to either of them. When Jamie, Mars, Greer meet to discuss about Nola, Greer says that Nola sees the three of them as a collective, whereas Jamie and Mars say Nola does not care about neither of them. Jamie confronts Nola and asks her to choose only one of them and stay loyal to whoever she chooses. Nola picks Jamie and breaks up with Greer and Mars. However, she soon realizes that her decision of choosing Jamie was taken under a moment of weakness and cheats on him. The movie ends with Jessica going to bed alone.

21 Jump Street (2012)

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the story of the movie revolves around the life of Jenko and Schmidt, who meets several years later at the police academy and become good friends. They are assigned a case where they are told to limit the spread of a drug called HFS (“Holy Fucking Shit”), at Sagan High School. They are enrolled in the school and in order to crack the case, they are disguised as students. While Jenko takes arts and humanities, Schmidt takes science classes. Through a classmate named Moly, both Schmidt and Jenko are able to track down the leader, who is a student named Eric. Throughout the film it can be seen, Jenko and Schmidt trying to search for the person who is responsible for spread of the drug in the school. After further investigation, they find out the physical education teacher named Mr. Walters is the one responsible for the same. Regardless of the arguments, both Jenko and Schmidt are able to arrest Mr. Walters and Eric, which leads them to get yet another case: infiltrating a college.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)

Directed by Taika Waititi, the story of the movie revolves around the life an abandoned child named Ricky, who is taken by police officers named Paula and Andy, and is sent to live with his foster aunt Bella and her husband Hec. After Bella suddenly dies, Ricky to save himself for the child service, fakes his suicide and flees with his dog into the bush, where he gets lost. However, Hec is able to find him and they both go from one hut to another to save themselves from getting arrested. Hec explains to Ricky that he was once arrest for manslaughter and has spent quite a lot of time in prison. When Ricky spends a night at the house of a girl named Kahu, the next morning when he returns to the hut, he notices some signs that suggested Hec was arrested. Ricky manages to run away from the officers, and eventually reconciles with Hec. After some unfortunate events, Hec is arrested by the police and Ricky is taken in by Kahu’s family. After a few years later, when Hec is released from the jail, Ricky invites him to stay at Kahu’s house and work at their farm.

Parenthood (1989)

Directed by Ron Howard, the story of the movie revolves around the life of the children of a man named Frank. Frank’s son Gil is a sales executive, who has three sons, and each of them have some issues that they are going through. Gil’s life is turned upside down when he gets to know that his wife is pregnant with his fourth child. Gil has an elder sister, Helen, who is divorced and her children Garry and Julie are totally abandoned by their father. Garry spends most of his time in his room and Julie gets married to her boyfriend Tod. After Julie wishes to break up with Tod, Helen advices her not to go ahead with the decision and given the relationship one more chance. Gil and Helen’s younger sister, Susan, who is married to a scientist Nathan, wishes to have more children, however, Nathan refuses to go ahead with the decision. After several arguments, Susan decides to give her relationship with Nathan another chance. Larry, is the black sheep of the family, who can be seen getting involved in gambling and is known for not taking good care of his son, Cool. At the end of the movie, it can be seen Julie giving birth to a daughter, Susan getting pregnant, and Gil can be seen as the father of four.

Little Evil (2017)

One day, Gary receives a phone call from Lucas’ school with his teacher informing Gary that when Lucas told a teacher to “go to hell”, she committed suicide. Lucas was advised to see a therapist, to which Gary agrees. To find out the truth about Lucas’ behaviour, Gary goes to different people and learns that Lucas is antichrist and that he is a danger to the world, and that killing him would end the misery of the world. Gary goes ahead with the plan to kill Lucas, but in the midst of that develops a soft corner for him and saves him from people who were danger to Lucas.

Raquel is obsessed with Ares since many years, but has never spoken to her. One day when Apolo (Ares’ brother), thanks Raquel for giving the WiFi password, leaving her confused. When she finds out that Ares hacked his computer and got the password, she decides to confront him, which later turns to Raquel agreeing to him that she likes him and wants him to fall for her too. Things begin to get steamy as they get closer, and Ares ends up falling in love with Raquel despite his family’s objection.
